The cellar door is set high with sweeping views over the Five Ashes vineyard,
the Rushy Creek valley below and opposing hills of lush grazing land and tall timber.

Margaret River, Western Australia.

The Drake-Brockman family’s association with the Margaret River district dates back to first settlement by the Bussell family in 1830, and proprietor Richard Drake-Brockman’s Great Grandmother Grace Bussell. Hamelin Bay’s vineyard and winery is located within a few km’s of Karridale, at the intersection of the Brockman and Bussell Highways, which were named in honour of the pioneering families. The climate is equable due to the proximity of the Southern Ocean at Flinders Bay and the Indian Ocean at Hamelin Bay. The family’s crest is a two legged dragon called a Wyvern, and is Hamelin Bay’s guarantee of quality. The Latin (‘esse quam videri’) on the label is their motto ‘to be rather than seem to be’ a wine of distinction.
